Boat-tours.
Welcome aboard the Björn Jónsson ÞH-345North across the Arctic-circle.
This summer Arctic-travel offers tours from June the tenth until September the thirtieth across the Arctic-circle. We begin the tour at Raufarhöfn and sail north along the shore until we come to Hraunhafnartangi, which is the northern-most point of Iceland, and from there we sail across the Arctic-circle, which is only a short way from the shore. From nowhere in the country is there a shorter journey to reach the Arctic-circle. The tour takes two and a half hours and there is a lot to see on the way, because along the coast there is a rich birdlife and a lot of seals. Back in harbour each passenger gets a document attesting that he or she has travelled North of the Arctic-circle.
Sightseeing tours.
Arctic-travel also offers sightseeing tours along the coast towards the south and into the Þistilfjörður and to a point called the Rauðanes. On the way there is a lot to see, for example: a very attractive landscape with rocks and cliffs, caves, points, inlets and bays. Lively nesting-colonies of seabirds are along the route and we could possibly see the majority of the types of cliff-nesting seabirds. If luck is on our side we might even meet a whale on our way. This tour takes about three and a half hours.
Midnight-tours.
Arctic-travel also offers midnight-tours where we aim for an unforgettable experience. No one should pass up the chance to take part in this tour, because nowhere in the world can you see a more beautiful midnight-sun than here. This tour is something you will remember for a long time. We will have alive-music and try to get into a romantic mood. The tour has no specific timing, because as we know time is a relative commodity.
Angling tours.
Arctic-travel aims to offer angling-tours, and aboard the boat we will have all the equipment necessary for that. Rich fishing grounds are within a short distance from Raufarhöfn and we can easily offer that kind of tours to families with children. Those with more experience can also get tours more suitable to their taste, for nothing beats catching a fat cod or a lively sea-salmon; and of cause a fine halibut or a salmon would be nothing to sneeze at.
The boat.
Björn Jónsson Þ-345 is the boat that will be used for the tours. Björn Jónsson is of the type Cleopatra 38, built by Trefjar in Hafnarfjörður in the year 2000, and has two engines. On board are good facilities for passengers, and all the navigation- and safety equipment necessary to be allowed to carry passengers. During every tour we offer food and drink.
